On our last visit we were asked to clear the attic of a house that once belonged to family who had owned a bistro for many years. Amongst the dusty boxes of ephemera were several of these posters that they will have had to display by law.
This one is dated 1887 and mentions that anyone found drunk in the street will be fined 5 francs.
Having been backed with cardboard it has lasted quite well. Just a charming piece of social history.
