The beautiful carved wooden gilded panel on this bench is mid 18th century and has been later, and skillfully incorporated into this storage bench in the 19th century.
From a chateau near Orleans, France, we found this sat beneath a huge shuttered window. It has a hinged top, and is ornately decorated with gilded acanthus leaves.
A winged cherub sits front and centre, and two floral motifs adorn each end.
Super heavy, this is a solid, well made piece which has flaking teal coloured paint and signs of historic woodworm, which we have treated as a precaution.
A simply stunning piece of furniture. We can quote to make a squab cushion in your fabric choice for the top should you wish.
