Really good, large scale Louis XV style sofa with lots of shape, on fine, cabriole legs and retaining untouched patina.
Very unusually the seat was signed and inscribed by the upholsterer and reads:
‘Edouard Chevallier, upholsterer from Orleans, for the Chateau de Montigny, 18 July 1869’.
If you would like up to re-upholster this sofa, 7 meters of fabric will be required.
Retaining old calico is possible with some sensitive, remedial work carried out to make useable. Please enquire.
